What a shocker! On 27th Feb I was diagnosed with colon cancer (technically it’s rectal cancer but I’ll call it colon cancer for decency’s sake!).
I had had a tummy bug for a few days that hadn’t laid me particularly low, but decided to get checked out by my wonderful Doc and friend Jane. She sent me for a colonoscopy, expecting to find nothing sinister but wanting to check out what was going on. The doctor who performed the colonoscopy was as shocked as we were to find a 5cm tumor! The options, he said, were cancer or lymphoma…..no 3rd choice. Needless to say, pathology confirmed cancer and I am now looking at a treatment plan that covers radiation and chemo combined, followed by surgery, finished off with more chemo.
We have been overwhelmed with the love and support that family and friends have poured out on us and want you all to stay connected and informed of how I’m doing and the latest news.
This is going to be a tough year, but I know that we can trust God through it and hold onto Him as nothing can separate us from the love that He has for us.
Do keep praying for me, for Al and of course for James, Sophie and Emma who will have to see Mum go through all this. Love to you all.
