I’m just horrible at relaxing. I’d even go so far as to say I find relaxing quite stressful. How about you?
Rest and relaxation aren’t my normal state of being. I’m a doer, a worrier, a get up and get on with it girl. Even when my get up and gets up and walks off.
Maybe you’re like that too. Perhaps you’re struggling to unwind and catch up. That’s why I made you this.
But I’m jumping ahead of my self because I’m so excited – I’ll get to those goodies in a minute.
With summer upon us we’re meant to relax, unwind and re-energize, but it’s not always easy, especially if we’re going through a rough season on top of everything else, and summer’s passing us by with out so much as a how’s your father?
A wise friend challenged me. She said rest is an act of trust – trust that God’s got all the plates I’m spinning and I can soak in a bubble bath with a large glass of wine without worrying.
She was right.
But for me that trust needs to be intentional. Trust, and therefore rest, won’t happen by themselves. They won’t happen unless I INTENTIONALLY trust God. It’s an act of my will, something I need to choose to step into.Rest is an intentional act of trust. Click To Tweet
How about you?
Last week we were down at the beach and I took some time to work on my book proposal and I got sucked in. I’m excited about meeting with publishers next week and I was giving it my all.
The trouble was I was ignoring my family and not giving them anything; not even my left over energy, and I was failing miserably at the whole R&R thing. So I made a gargantuan-ly intentional act of trust, to put it all down and go and relax, play, and rest. It was so worth it and so much fun. So I read a book too. Then another.

What do you need to trust God with so you can rest this week?
If you’re struggling to rest I have the perfect thing for you.
I’ve made you a Thrive Gift Bag to help you unwind and pamper yourself and guess what,
YOU CAN WIN IT!!
I’m sorry – the giveaway has closed. But you can still buy the t-shirt at the THRIVE SHOP!!
There’s everything you need to thrive and not just survive whatever your summer is throwing your way. I’ve even added a way to sneak in an extra entry to increase your chance of winning. I know, I’m the best!
There’s a bathbomb for that bubble bath (wine unfortunately not included), a journal to write your poetry or prayers, a scented candle, a gorgeous water bottle to help you stay hydrated, 5 Minutes with Jesus by Sheila Walsh to ground you each morning, a book by my friend Marissa Henley about Loving Your Friend Through Cancer (but it’s great for any crisis and helpful if you’re the one going through something too), a Thrive t-shirt (did you see the photo of me wearing mine?), and of course, chocolate (no gift bag is complete without chocolate).
Enjoy my friend,
~ Niki ~
